Dominican Republic

A little further than Punta Cana. I was invited to the Dominican Republic to photograph a real-estate seminar, travelling with a Belgian filmmaker. But once the work was done, we headed north, towards the Samaná Bay — far from the usual tourist routes. What stayed with me most was the feeling of being somewhere still wild. One morning, we reached Playa Frontón and had the entire beach to ourselves. More than two kilometres of sand, a huge dark cliff, and not a single other person around. It felt almost unreal. We even went out looking for whales. We saw none. And I spent most of the boat trip feeling very, very sick. 😂 But that’s also what I love about travelling: the unexpected moments are often the ones you remember
