I came for a wedding. I stayed for the adventure. It actually started as a joke. A friend I used to shoot with for his kimono brand told me he was getting married in Cambodia the following year. I told him, “Take me with you.” A few months later, I was actually on a plane. After the wedding, I had about ten days to discover the country on my own. It was my first real solo trip, and Cambodia turned out to be the perfect place for it — full of contrasts, incredible landscapes and stories around every corner. Angkor was probably the biggest shock. Huge temples disappearing into the jungle, trees growing through ancient stone, and places I had only ever seen in movies. But one of my favourite memories happened much further south, kayaking alone through the mangroves around Kampot. There were quiet evenings too, when travelling alone felt a little less romantic than it sounds. 😂 But looking back, that’s probably what made the experience so special. I came to photograph a wedding. I left with a whole collection of stories of my own
